"Well here it is, the final of what has been an excellent 'Gluten Free Magic Bake Off'.
First of all, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, you guys are a talented bunch and we’ve been overwhelmed with the standard of entrants. Secondly, an extra big thank you to our three brilliant finalists: Antonia, Kate and Matthew. We couldn’t have asked for better finalists and you’ve wowed us with your final showstopper challenge. So here are their showstoppers, all gluten free and made with our vanilla sponge mix.
Matthew’s chocolate celebration cake.
Matthew flavoured the vanilla sponge with Chocolate and Coffee to make a Mocha cake for the bottom two tiers, and the top tier is flavoured Chocolate Orange. Each tier is filled with two layers; one being Coffee Buttercream and the other being a rich Chocolate Ganache and they alternate throughout. The cake is smothered in a rich chocolate glaze and wrapped in a tempered dark and white chocolate band. A white chocolate heart sits on the top to finish it off.
Kate’s Blooming Lovely Citrus And Poppy Seed Celebration Drizzle Cake Filled With Prosecco Cream And Homemade Blackberry Jam.
This rustic celebration cake uses seasonal fruit and edible flowers, perfect for sharing and indulging with family and friends.
Antonia’s Triple Tier Lemon Meringue ombré birthday Cake.
Each tier is made up of three layers of sponge, when you cut into the cake you can see each layer is a different shade of yellow creating an ombré effect. The cake is filled with butter cream and homemade lemon curd and each tier is decorated in a different shade of yellow to mimic the ombré effect inside the cake. The cake is also topped with homemade meringue kisses. As you can imagine, with such wonderful entries it was an extremely tough and very close vote.
However, only one could be crowned the Gluten Free Magic Bake Off Champion and we are delighted to announce, the winner is… KATE! Congratulations Kate! You have won afternoon tea for two at the wonderful, gluten free restaurant, ‘2 Oxford Place’ in Leeds, with an overnight stay in a hotel to complete the prize as well as a box of goodies. You will also be invited to create your final bake here at Delicious Alchemy so it can be photographed professionally and shared on our website. And there we have it! What a competition and what a winner. Time for us to sit back and put our feet up with a cup of tea and a slice of cake."
