"Wow, what a talented bunch of bakers you are! The #GFMBO is off to a flying start, with a whopping 107 entries in its first week – close to the 111 entries we received throughout the whole competition last year!
We have been thoroughly amazed, and so impressed with all your bakes. From cheesecake to scones, cupcakes to wedding cakes, we’ve had a whole range of gluten free goodness come our way this week. As you can imagine, picking 1 winner from 107 was an impossible task, so we settled on 4 as we couldn’t whittle it down any further! Here are week 1’s winners:
Lindsey Bowe – Cinnamon spiced apple cake. She had us at cinnamon!
Hannah Paxton – Quiche made with a potato and courgette crust and filled with ham and spinach (click here for the recipe). We know that homemade pastry is a tricky one to tackle - especially gluten free! But Hannah cracked it with her potato crust quiche.
Rebecca Dewey – Bakewell tart with homemade blackcurrant jam (click here for the recipe). We absolutely loved the finish of this bake, and it's not a common gluten free dessert. We're desperate to try it with a cup of tea!
Harley’s – Vegan blueberry doughnuts. Harley's demonstrated great skill with these doughnuts - we were very impressed!
